Our Talented Sports Program (TSP) is a highly valued program at Miami. The program was instigated in 2008 after an identified need to develop Miami Primary School’s profile within the community. The school’s unique physical situation in the midst of Pizzey Park with international standard sporting facilities within walking distance added to the number of elite primary school athletes in the area. This made the choice of a dedicated, school-based sporting program an obvious one.
At present, T.S.P. is available in years 4 -6. Each Tuesday and Thursday morning between 8.00 and 9.30am all students in the program attend their TSP whether it’s conducted on the school grounds or at a neighbouring facility. All coaching is done by highly qualified coaches and experts in their field. The program operates as a user – pay system so fees vary from sport to sport.
A selection of the following sports are offered each term:
Students (boys and girls) develop skills and fitness through drills and modified games. Skills include, catching, passing, evasion and kicking. The program is conducted on the school oval and is enhanced with the input of Burleigh Bears Rugby League coaching staff and A.R.L. Development officers.
